Khulna, Bangladesh — Towards Sustainability (TS) is excited to announce the ongoing success and expansion of its “Climate Education: Learn, Lead, Engage” project. This ambitious initiative aims to nurture a generation of eco-conscious leaders across Bangladesh, transforming the way students understand and engage with environmental issues to foster a greener and more sustainable future.

Launched in the Khulna Division, the project is now reaching other regions, bringing climate education to schools across the country. Students are introduced to crucial topics such as climate change, renewable energy sources, the impacts of deforestation, biodiversity conservation, and the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle). Through immersive learning experiences, they gain a comprehensive understanding of these subjects and are encouraged to develop practical solutions to the environmental challenges facing their communities.

The core concept of the project is encapsulated in its motto: “Learn, Lead, Engage.” Students first learn about pressing environmental issues and the science behind climate change. They then develop the confidence and skills to lead initiatives within their schools, becoming role models and advocates for sustainability. Finally, they are encouraged to engage actively in environmental stewardship through hands-on activities and teamwork, particularly focusing on tree planting and stewardship activities.

By integrating these practical activities, the initiative empowers students to take active roles in environmental stewardship. The program culminates in tree planting and stewardship activities, allowing students to apply their knowledge in tangible ways and witness the immediate impact of their efforts.

Nushrath Jahan Juhi, Founder and Executive Director of Towards Sustainability, expressed her enthusiasm for the project: “Our goal is to inspire and equip young minds with the knowledge and skills they need to become proactive agents of change. By starting in the Khulna Division and expanding to other regions, we aim to create a model that can be replicated across Bangladesh, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to contribute to a sustainable future.”

The project has already seen significant engagement from students and educators alike, with many expressing excitement about the potential for real-world impact. As the initiative continues, it promises to foster a generation of leaders who are not only aware of environmental issues but are also equipped to take meaningful action.

Towards Sustainability remains committed to its vision of a sustainable future through education and empowerment. The ongoing “Climate Education: Learn, Lead, Engage” project represents a significant step towards achieving this vision, creating a ripple effect that will benefit communities and the environment for years to come.
